Does anyone know if the Wagon R has a panic alarm? My in laws have called me on Christama day unable to use their car as the hazards and alarm went off whilst they were in it preparing to go out for lunch, they have had a neighbour disconnect the battery, I think the old fellah has accidentally pushed the panic switch, if it's got one?

You sure the alarm hasn't just gone off?

Some cars use the car alarm as a panic alarm, and they go off when you hold the "lock" button on the fob.

thanks for your reponses lads, I thought I was clutching at straws on Xmas day!!

The in-laws live 350 miles away so we're trying to fix this over the phone, not easy when they are in their late 70's.

Their neighbour is reconnecting the battery tomorrow morning so we will check the alarm tomorrow, thanks again for your help, Merry Christmas.

Mine went a long time ago after my missus wrote it off frown But pretty sure it doesn't. The alarm is pretty basic from memory.

My MIL has a T-reg Wagon R - it has central locking but I am not aware of it having an alarm. While it's a pretty uninspiring drive, the damn thing is as tough as old boots!

I would hazard (*cough* excuse me wink ) a guess that an aftermarket alarm fitted when the car was new has objected (by going off) to low battery voltage from the battery being almost run flat due to short trips with everything switched on due to the cold weather. Cutting the permanent live to the alarm would, I suspect, show the same effects.
