So, meeting with the fellas in the pub soon to discuss next years holidays. We try and get away for a few days driving. It'll probably be somewhere in europe. Current ideas are doing as many Swiss passes as possible in 24 hours, heading down through France and Spain into Morocco. Someone inevitably keeps suggesting the 'ring.

Where would you go?

Next year (2011) we're (4 mates and I) doing effectively the reverse of the recent top gear trip.

We're flying into Ney York, staying a night or two on manhattan and then driving a rental all the way to south west Florida.

It should be an awesome trip!! smile

Cheers

Hoping to use my stag do next year as justification for the following.

Milau Bridge
Monte Carlo
Ferarri/Lambo/Pagani
Nurburgring
Dambuster Dams

By linking those up it should be a corker of a drive smile

I'm thinking either the Alps or ferry down to Northern Spain. Possibly both - across the Pyrenees and into southern France.

You NEED to sign up for next years PHN Alpine South tour. It is EXACTLY THAT.

Once you get it planned send me the route...

Sounds like one hell of a tour...

As for me, plenty of places I would like to drive but next time I go up to Manchester I have got to take a small detour and take the Snake Pass across the Peak district. Went the Castleton the other year and had to yomp across the peak district for hours at a time. But remember being stood at the side of the road by the resevoir listening to A DB9 hooning from miles away.

A meet the ph'ers tour, heading north from doncaster to tyneside, then dundee and other areas of scotland, then back down to norhamptonshire/buckinhamshire maybe visiting people on the way, then on to london, before heading back via lincoln to doncaster.

Will do biggrin

I've already plotted it with Google Maps and it comes out about 2700 miles.

Fortuntaley my mate is an enthusiastic passenger and neither of think anything of doing monster mileages

Same problem as the TVR tour - I'm sure it's great value, but I can't justify the cost of a ten day trip at the moment. What we need is a 3 or 4 day mini hoon for sub-£1,000 and I'd be in. smile

I want to do this too, fly to NY.. Few nights there and then road trip for the next 10-14 days across America and fly back from the other side.

You need to be careful with US rental cars. Many are state registered, which means you'll get charged a fortune to ship them back if you deposite them on the other side of the country.

I've managed the M25 non stop... smile

I would love to drive all the way to Pakistan. My father done the trip back in the 60's . He took a ford transit (round light model in orange i believe) and it took him approx 6 weeks to get there. The trip was a lot safer back then.
