need help 1992 318i BMW

Where is the main fuel pump located I'm have to help my find change his but I've read up on it and it says it has a prepump under the rear seats and the main one is under the driver seat? I'm sure it means in that general location but has anyone changed one before? Any advice on how to go about it or if the location is right or if its else where? Do you have to drain the tank or not like I said any info is helpful

as far as i know its under the rear seats and to change it you dont need to drain the fuel

It might be the same as my e39 540: under the rear seats (the seat base lifts out of the way) there is an access panel to the fuel tank. Remove this, and you can get to the fuel pick-up and fuel pump. Worth having a look??
