Okay so it's a semi what car thread, but is more a What to do thread? I've been running the Saab now for the last 5 months and I do without a doubt love it, but like a married man or woman I do have that occasional urge of "What would it be like with something else?"

The way I look at it is I have three options.

Option One - Put Saab on the market for £700, take first sensible offer and use said cash to buy a new shed to replace it.

Option Two - Realise that life isn't always greener on the other side and stick to my original plan and run the Saab till the day it dies and then replace.

Option Three - Start Saving like it's going out of fashion to pick up a second shed to bring variety into my life?

Suggestions are of course always welcome.

Any vehicle worth under £1,000 should be driven until it dies.

It really depends what shed you're after.
If it's something that can do everything you need and want from a car then sell the Saab and buy the new shed.
If the shed is fun and fast but will cost you ten trillion pounds in petrol to get to work n back then save hard n buy a weekend car.

What kinda thing you lusting after?

A second very different shed.

I'd save a grand, buy a Mk1 MX-5, and stick it on classic insurance with the Saab as your daily driver.

Win, win.

And this is where the problem lies, so far we have a few of the usual suspects on the list :

Mk1 MX-5 (although at 6'4 am I going to fit into it?)

E39 525td (yep it's a diesel but my arguement would be due to an increase in mileage with work - plus I fancy some waftability and this would be a full on replacement to the Saab)

Mazda MX-6 (Tidy looking example not that far away from me going for under £500 at the moment)

Fiat Coupe 20V (Yes I know that will probably be a headache)
and finally
Alfa Romeo 156 2.5 V6 (if for no other reason but I've always wanted one)

And thats before I even think about actually looking to see whats out there properly.

I'd go with the "save for an MX5" approach, as long as you fit!
