Yes, he has shown some speed in the past, but so have all the other drivers. I'm sick of his negative attitude and given all the stress, fines and cost he's given Williams, he's got a nerve to suggest that the team is tampering with his car.

He'll win no friends doing that and if I was his new team I'd be questioning his loyalty (other than the £29m his sponsors bring).

Really don't need people like him in F1 IMO, plenty of other upcoming drivers out there with sponsors who are probably a lot more humble, appreciative and respectful of a team like Williams.

What say thee?

The problem is that he went toe to toe with Alonso and came out on top.

The boy can obviously pedal, it's just a shame his attitude stinks about virtually everything.

Being Venesuala's top racing driver just means that he has state support. that state support has obviously been enough to buy him out of lots of trouble. At one point he was banned from all motorsport within Monaco that disappeared very quietly.

fast, but a pain in the ass.

I bet Williams would so like to "rest" him for the remaining races, after his comments yesterday, it's a shame that he brings so much money with him as they need it.

I'm sure he will use his Renault power to carve through the field this afternoon from 17th to 3rd, showing us all his true class.

In all honesty every one of the 22 drivers on the grid can 'pedal'... Maldonado is special due to his few million dollars of backing, like other drivers I will admit.
I'm hoping he doesn't appear on an F1 grid ever again, arrogant child IMO. But unfortunately I'm sure like a bad smell he'll re-appear. :-(

I've always been amazed that he was never banned when he twice swiped drivers, on purpose; one being Hamilton at Spa however I can't remember the second.

Apart from his crying yesterday, He was just as bad when I saw him claim in an interview he was "Happy to be leaving Williams as he had done more for them than they had done for him".

His stupidity and arrogance beggars belef. What a complete pillock.

He needs a trip to hospital to have his arms shortened by about 2ft. Will stop him dragging his knuckles on the ground, rockape. smile

The other was Perez at Monaco. Considering he was lucky to be allowed back at Monaco you'd have thought he'd learnt his lesson...

I cannot wait to see the back of the man. He is arrogant beyond belief, rude and just not that good. Yes he can be fast and once he got it all right, but his attitude towards team/ other drivers is appalling.
Good bye and god riddance .

I'd always thought of him as a petulant idiot, but his comments yesterday were just appalling. If Williams had any balls left, they'd kick him out of the car immediately and tell him to do one.

Accusing the team of deliberately sabotaging the car as a reason for why he's slow and his team mate so fast just speaks volumes about his attitude. For some reason he reminds me of the Viz character Spoilt B*stard. Only instead of his mum helping him, he's got the Venezuelan Government.

If it wasn't the oil money, I very much doubt any team principles would put up with his sort of nonsense. Why would they when there are more talented drivers about who aren't suck complete a*sehats.

I sincerely hope that he doesn't have a drive for next year sorted out and that he finds himself in the wilderness. The very idea that he might have a good drive next year and a driver like Hulkenburg might not, is a damning inditement on the state of F1.

He's not going anywhere. Not while F1 is a pay sport with him having £29m in backing.

Very well said.

I'm not saying drivers should all be sweetness and light, indeed I think it brings character to the sport. But this guy is asking for a slap in the braces and brings nothing to F1. I hope the commentators/pundits and team principals aren't shy in holding back their opinions in this race.

If I were him I'd be checking the tightness of the bolts on my steering column/brake pedal before heading out today.

I've always given him the benefit of the doubt, he's had some good performances when he hasn't got his head up his arse but yesterday was the final straw. He showed his true colours in the worst way possible IMO.

There's nothing to like as far as I can see. I think you'd get the same performance from a whole host of recent and current GP2 racers. Hopefully the money dries up soon and that's the last we see of him.

Personally I've always thought he looks like a mini-Lurch / Frankenstein who likes to crush puppies heads for fun... Williams are running out of sources for more puppies for his unquenchable "hobby" - plus the constant cleanup of the garage and pits is becoming tiresome. The b'stard!

That and sideswiping another driver on a cool down lap deliberately should result in an immediate 1 year ban - no questions, no anything. But with the spineless toad Jean Todd in the driving seat for another 4 years, hard line policies like that will never happen.

I hope he sticks around, he makes a good villain. His antics are far more interesting than most of the boring drones in F1.
