I'm pretty sure I've heard a interview from him before saying his helmet design was down to Senna being his hero or something like that.

I've just watched the Q from today and he's got a white helmet although it had green padding / liner whatever you call it.

So what's the crack ? Has I missed something ?

Normally wouldn't give 2 feefs tbh but since it's 20 years since the great man passed RIP I would of thought nows a good time to pay tribute.

He wore a yellow helmet since he was a kid so his dad could spot him easily on the track when he was karting. Kept it through his whole career until this year he's got a white one.

Both Mercedes-Benz drivers had yellow helmets last season. Glad Hamilton no longer has.

A change is as good as a rest they say... smile His on track and off form this year appears much better so far. His pre and post race interviews even when recording a DNF first round appear to be far more considered with a touch of maturity all too often lacking in the past.

Good to see and hear.

Whatever happened to all those PHers who thought his move from McLaren was a BIG mistake ?

Good to see British success even if the cars wear a three pointed star logo.

i think it is something to do with paying respect to the passengers of the missing plane or something

It could be seen as a mark of respect to Senna to wear a yellow helmet this year, on the other hand it could be seen as a mark of respect to stop wearing a Senna-like helmet this year, in a there-can-be-only-one kind of way I suppose. Ihave no idea why he actually has changed though. Perhaps he's keeping up with current top line fashion of changing your helmet every two races. To keep ahead of the curve, Seb will now have to get some of that revolving billboard technology built into his helmet so he can change design during a race.

I thought they changed their helmets race by race now? Well SV seems to and I'm sure LH has changed his quite often during the past couple of seasons.

I think he just fancied a change to be honest

From the man himself - 8m25s in.

"I told the painters to decide"

A great, in-depth interview, well worth a listen/watch.

I am just glad they are not both yellow now so when you see a Merc you can actually swiftly ID the driver.

This. I know Rosberg's was closer to fluorescent green than Hamilton's yellow, but it's a lot clearer to see who is who this year.

Thank you, I somehow had forgotten about Windsor and his podcasts.

Certainly was purposely very Senna-like when he first joined F1, but i's changed a few times over the years I think. I know when Bruno was in F1 he also had a Helmet design like his uncle's so he may have changed it then too.

Wouldn't read too much into it.
