Well, it has been 91 years since they started as a GP racing car manufacturer, and they finally have managed a F1 Constructors title. We all knew it was coming, despite the various setbacks over the decades that have befallen them, motorsport itself, and the world at large.

But finally, their much delayed way to the title was pure style, a way of absolute domination, carefully dangled teases to other teams, and sheer, raw engineered brilliance of a car that shames all others in it's field.

With driver infighting and conspiracy theorists gone wild, even calling for a squadron of airborne pigs to try to put it to rest, it is a worthy three cheers for the Hammy and Rosberg Show.

Agreed...and what a car! The W05 will surely join the legends such as F2004, MP4/4, RB7 and FW14. The manner in which Mercedes-Benz have used this level of dominance and their racing philosophy is also to be applauded. Puts the previous years' Red Bull reign to shame.

It is a car so dominant the drivers can stop for a cup of coffee and still win. It is an impressive bit of machinery and Mercedes have done an incredible job.

They well deserve this win.

Indeed. A magnificent car, two cracking drivers and very positive management allowing their drivers to mix it with one-another.

A well-deserved win in an excellent season.

Well done Merc.

A very good point. Not only do they win the Constructor's title BUT they allow their drivers to fight, tooth and nail. Which has led to some of the best races I've seen.

It is true. An awesome effort all round and fully deserved, especially considering their equal competition philosophy with the racing. I was almost hoping some records would fall this season.

Sadly it seems not many fans care though...

I suspect it is easier to let them fight it out given the car's crushing dominance. They've done a truly remarkable job; it's a proper rocketship.

yup, agree with all of that, they should be applauded for playing fair both within the team and to their customer teams.

I very much doubt Williams/FI would be doing so well without the huge support given to them by Merc (as opposed to here's an engine guys, knock yourselves out).

this was very evident from day one of testing, with all the Merc teams pooling data etc.

I was never a fan of Toto, but over the year, my view of him has changed substantially.

Yeah agree with all of the above, well done the whole team.
Shame Ross Brawn isn't around to share the credit, but he did get a mention from Toto at the last gp.

I think it's a huge and well-deserved success for the team, especially a team which seems fairly open and transparent to the public and runs two "number one" drivers and lets them fight! Top marks, I don't see how we could hope for better.

As for the team at Brackley, the rumoured ~£10k performance bonus for winning the championship certainly won't hurt.

There's an echo in here wink

I'm not sure where they get their driver salary figures from, but both are higher than I've been led to believe.

Good luck to them and I echo the comments about their openness. Wolf and Lauda are good front men.

For what it matters, the figures in the open space at the bottom of the star are Nico, Lewis and Paddy.

And the picture of them all jumping (bottom right of the montage) was for Sean Edwards.

Whats with all the praise and "after all this time" lark?

They are Mercedes. They go racing...they win. Did it when they raced the SSKs, with the 30's W cars, the 50s W cars and now back in F1 with these cars. They enter Le Mans, they win. They produce GT3 cars...they win.

And first constructors? Oh knock it off, its only because such things didn't technically exist back in the day, but it is rather conveniently ignoring they blew the doors off everyone in 54 and 55, as such they were regarded as the constructors champions then.

Im a Merc fan boy...I own 3 of the buggers ffs...but this over the top celebration is well...grating. They are Merc, winning should simply be accepted.

One of the reasons I watch F1 is that it's not that simple. Megacorps with mega money can't just roll up and win. Yes it takes money but a lot of other things as well.

Odd thought about the staff numbers: as Honda they had about 700 staff, championship winning Brawn had about 430 staff, now they are back up to 700

Because they built a fantastic car that is easily 2 or 3 seconds a lap quicker than everyone else, and it only took them 91 years to get an F1 Constructors title.

Absolutely. No one has said anything different.

But, there was no Constructor's title then, and that matters. Of course Merc deserved a Constructor's title then - but there wasn't one, so Merc's first F1 Constructor's Title is 2014.

Of course. Doesn't mean that the achievement is not worth celebrating.
