Exactly a week from now the green light signaling the start of the first qualifying session of 2015 will illuminate. I believe that's cause enough to kick off the traditional official thread. Spoilers will follow in due course.

Can we expect anything other than a Mercedes white wash? and if not, which driver will come out on top? Rosberg, like last year's Australian race, or Hamilton, who may or many not be mentally broken again after he and Nicole unfollowed each other on Twitter?

How close can Williams run the Mercedes at what is a very fast circuit favouring the slipperier car, and where they with their new Mercedes partnership and Maldonado-free driver lineup made such a promising debut last year?

How will the rest of the field shake out after the many and significant developments in the winter;
Will the Ferrari power unit deliver on Ferrari and Sauber's pre-season testing promise?
Will Lotus' new Mercedes drivetrain power them back into contention?
Will it be Sauber or Lotus who perform the most dramatic resurgence after their torrid 2014 championships?
Will RedBull find themselves mired in a highly competitive midfield battle or are they still the safest bet for second place in the constructors championship?
Will Force India's 2015 challenger prove to be any good?
Will either of the McLaren Hondas finish?
Have all of Kevin Magnussen's birthdays and christmases come at once or will it be the stuff of nightmares?
How many times will the Mercedes lap the 2014 Marussia Manor car?
Who will that Dutchman drive the second Manor F1 car?

I, for one, am intrigued and excited.

Both Mclarens will struggle to finish. Button will easily beat him if his car can stay the distance.

I'd say Massa 3rd, but his form in Melbourne is shocking. He must hate the place.

Sky's programming starts at 5am for qualifying and 04:30 for the race. The actual qualifying and race start is 6am, in case you want to miss the build-up and enjoy a bit longer in bed.

As much as I want there to be done exciting battles, I honestly hope hamilton dominates this season to prove the doubters wrong (although it will probably just result in "had the best car" comments regardless).

Still looking forward to it though smile I think SV in the Ferrari could be a dark horse

Currently in Brisbane on holiday and am flying down to Melbourne on Saturday to see the race on Sunday. First time visiting Melbourne and am really excited now.

I can't see much other than a Merc 1-2 but the lower positions look fascinating. Where are Ferrari exactly? and how will Kimi v Vettel work out?

I suspect McHonda will complete the race with at least 1 car and will wind up around the same level as Ferrari/Williams/RB by mid season.

It looks like the Mercs are going to be way out in front again, but perhaps Rosberg has learnt from last season and will come back stronger.

I really hope the Ferrari's can be back up there with Williams, Red Bull and McLaren in reducing the gap to the Mercs.

One things for sure, I can't wait for it all to start smile

Lewis should walk this title. Rosberg only gave him a run when reliability went against him or when driver coaching was allowed.

Can't coach this year...who knows about reliability, but Merc focused on it heavily this pre-season.

Not very excited because I'm a Ferrari supporter and I'm not expecting much this season from them. I'll be very happy if Nico can put it up to Lewis for the whole season and give us a good spectacle otherwise I'm afraid Lewis will run away with it.
