I seem to remember rumour having it that after Sir Frank got his sir, RD was offered an MBE but turned it down, presumably in a fit of pique. Do that and your sirhood of often binned.

Surtees has an MBE and bar, so to speak. That's pretty cool.

Frank Williams became Sir Frank in 1999 and Ron Dennis was given a CBE in 2000 so I don't think that story can be true.

Surtees was an MBE (since 1959) but was "upgraded" to OBE in 2008.
