So I've successfully convinced my OH that a trip to Abu Dhabi in November for the F1 would be a good idea biggrin

Just looking at ticket options I notice they have general admission within an area in the middle of the track. Has anyone been in this area?

From experience at Spa, General Admission allows you greater freedom to view the action from different corners whereas in a grandstand you are stuck in the same seat all weekend. We don't mind sitting on a grassy bank if necessary.

However, what are the views of the action like at Abu Dhabi? Do they have many TV screen for the folk with GA tickets?

My son went last year, he was sat in the grandstand on the finishing line.
He was there for the whole week,he did the pit / paddock thing, went back to Dubai, for a day during free practice, he said he got a bit bored, and there was a party in Dubai..
Comments were, not many places to actually walk to, he was pretty much fixed,a lot of the track is flat, and surrounded with run off areas, you are not allowed to go.
Where he was sat afforded the ability, with a good zoom, to watch Coulthard and co in the pit lane, all the goings on by the teams, celeb spotting, which kept him occupied while nothing else was happening

Abu Dhabi is definitely one of my favorite circuits and a great choice IMO. We prefer the South or Marina Grandstands, you get to see about half the circuit and there's also plenty of screens to watch the build up and replays. We found you couldn't go far within that area but you could leave the circuit and re-enter via other entrances which was a bit of a pain. It's nothing like Spa for wandering about. The GA gets you views of turns 2 through 6 whereas the south end gets you views of turns 11 through 17 where there's usually some on track action to be had. As has been said, it's a flat circuit so apart from Abu Dhabi Hill and the grandstands you don't see much on the flat.

It's worth going for a few extra days to take in the UAE too. We stayed on the Corniche and taxied in and out. It's about a 20 minute journey but more there's more hotel choice and they're generally cheaper than at Yas. The Renault Team were staying at our hotel (Millenium) which was a nice bonus for us. Taxi's are peanuts compared to the UK and the best way to get about. Ferrari world is a bit overrated IMO, the Mosque was impressive and can be seen from the track. Dubai for a day is worth the trip.
