Lucky enough to be going to the Spanish Grand Prix next weekend, but trying to sort out transport to the circuit from our hotel in the centre of Barcelona on the three days.

Google Maps suggest 30 mins by car or 1 hour 45 mins by Metro/Train/foot!

Anyone done this commute in years past?

Options to me seem to be get a hire car or loose 2 or 3 hours of each day!

Thanks in advanced for any help.

Not been there but here's the details of a dedicated bus service. http://www.sagales.com/en/trip/73/barcelona-circui... which I suspect will be hellish busy but maybe worth a try on practice / qualifying days to see what it's like.

Train, Car, Other bus details here: http://www.circuitcat.com/en/circuit/comollegar.ph...

I recommend the Sagales option. Done it a few times. Yes, the coaches are full, but the queues are short on the way there and, on the way back, they're long but move quickly. They drop you off much closer to the circuit than the train does.

A cab will cost no more than 60 Euros each way. If you can get 4 of you in it works out relatively inexpensive considering the weekend as a whole.

Use the bus. Very slick operation.

Has anybody been to Catalunya for any smaller events? We're off to World Rallycross in Sept and trying to figure out the best way to get out to the circuit.

We got train to Montmello and walked from there. That was on a test day mind so don't know if the situation would be different on a race weekend.

Last year we got the train/metro thingy from the city centre on all three days. Trains were cheap, never heaving busy and take c.35-45 minutes, but on the Sunday after the race we went to a bar in Montmelo for a few beers (no beer for sale at the circuit, WTF) to let the VERY long queues into the station die down. Takes about 20 mins to walk to the circuit from the train station, but there is a shuttle bus service from the town to the circuit if I remember correctly (we never used it).
