This made me so mad I almost crashed my van at 200mph trying to outbrake a sauber on the M1 J11 while typing this reply on my mercedes-endorsed blackberry phone. somebody put an end to this madness.

It's also outrageous for some teams to have sponsors in the tech and comms industries, given using a phone other such device while driving is illegal.

One hopes so.

There were also some very clear and broadcasted "If you drink anything, don't drive" billboards too.

For the driver

Objects in the rear view mirror may be your teammate.

For the mechanics

Caution, hot parts and sharp edges.

For the team owners

F1 can seriously damage your wealth

It was actually "If you drink, never drive."

I had a beer on Saturday and now I'm never allowed to drive again.

At least they dropped the "Bernie Says....." nonsense.

Of course, "If you drink, never drive" is also nonsense advice anyway.

You probably are paying for them, just another group who have persuaded the authorities that the public really can't think for itself. (I know that's true in many case but they won't be persuaded either way by F1 sponsorship!)

Presumably the cars should also only be doing 70mph (at least at Silverstone) as it encourages speeding otherwise?

I wonder if you told those wkers that if alcohol sponsorship of sports is to be banned, then alcohol sponsorship of anything will be banned, including the arts, how long do you think it would be till the idea was gotten rid of?

Oddly it seems they're still testing virtual billboards with that slogan so 99% of the time you see it it's not actually trackside.

Maybe its just me but this advertising has no effect, I don't think I need to go out and buy their brand of larger I will buy the one I like or do I buy any products because I see their brand at the race. I will buy what I need, what I like and at a price that I like.

On the face of it I think like this too, but advertising must work otherwise companies wouldn't do it.
