I loved the Back to the Future feature he did on C4's British GP coverage this year, great to see him on the telly again. Did anyone else watch it?

Top man, Murray Walker. At Goodwood FoS in 2003 I was lucky enough to have a 15 min chat with him; he was there to sell/sign his book.

Sorry to spoil the mood....

I’m sure he’s a lovely bloke. But F1 commentator I couldn’t stand him, constant errors or utter nonsense. Some found it made him endearing, but I personally found it incredibly irritating.

I understand his place in British F1 viewing history though.

Happy birthday though.

Best thing to come out of Birmingham since the canals!

And I say that as a Brummie who grew up just down the road from where he was born on Reddings Lane, about 5 minute walk away from where Nigel Mansell grew up too.

Other than siblings and family relations, I don't think you'll ever find two historical figures of F1 that grew up in such close proximity to each other.

Huge respect for him.

100% should have been knighted. Was a Tanker in WW2 like my Dad, too.

Who cares, it’s his sheer enthusiasm!!!!
He literally commentated on everything he saw. He even took time to mention the mechanics some by name and even place of birth! Nowadays they just drift off...........

He always gets over to Thruxton to see bikes or cars, here is talking to Tiff earlier this year as they celebrate 50 years of the re-opening of Thruxton.
