It's being reported this morning that Ross Brawn has been hired by Liberty Media to be the new boss of F1. I read it on TheJudge who was quoting Autobild, also on F1technical.

I can't think of anyone better.

I was only thinking during Sunday's GP how I miss seeing him on the pit wall and grid.

Would be great for the sport, I think.

Hmmm I'm told he didn't want a role that required that much travel. Surely one can't perform that role without being at pretty much every race?

Sporting boss apparently - liaison between F1 and FIA. 3/5 year plan.

Good news if true. Most teams will trust him (vs say, Bernie) and he can probably balance the travel.

You're assuming it was offered to him? I spoke with one of those rumoured to have been offered it and that person hadn't heard a thing!!!!

True, but Ferrari were his halcyon days - Brawn no longer exist, Honda left him in the lurch, Mercedes booted him out.

(I was just being provocative anyway)

I'd guessed wink

Honda didn't leave him in the lurch per se -

Motorsport Magazine podcast where he talks it through is well worth a listen - he has nothing but praise for them given their situation.

Dont forget benneton, and varying jobs in several more teams, there cant be a team on the grid without people whove worked for/alongside him and probably has stories to tell, which is why he's such a good choice.
