Just read an article on James Allen F1 and it states that they're dropping the MP4 moniker from F1 cars.

Now that they've successfully removed Bug Ron it feels like they've gone out of their way to change a part of the team's history to me.

And Ron Dennies changed the M designations to MP4....and started again from there

Every time anyone changes anything, they are accused of selling off history, be it company, F1 team, rugby club, whatever. People generally have a moan and then forget about it, move on to something else

It was the naming configuration he introduced, certainly.

M= Mclaren/Malboro
P4= Project four racing, the team Ron ran before merging it with Mclaren,hence the name,and now the Dennis era is over, perhaps time for a change.

To me, MCL makes much more sense from a brand perspective...

Yet rumours abound they will revert to the traditional orange colour of the 60s so not necessarily all about going forward . I for one hope they do as it will remind me of the grateatest racing cars of all time. Can Am.
Mcl denomination for the chassis number does make sense now Ron is gone.
