I've not noticed it before, but there seems to be a light shining onto the track under the front of the Toro Rosso cars. I guess it's a sensor of some sort.
Can any of the PH F1 Illuminati shed any light on it?

It was either a speed sensor or a height measuring device last time it came up

Brundle yesterday noted that it's a ride height sensor

C4 apparently asked Torro Rosso and were told it was to get an accurate reading of road speed.

This is what impressed Honda resulting in a 25 year contract

It was mentioned specifically on the C4 coverage, they went and asked Toro Rosso and the answer was that it was a ride height sensor, they also have a slip sensor there (with another at the back.)

They all have them fitted it just seems that the one on the Toro Rosso is more visible than the others use.

Ride height sensor was CK's initial thought but it was confirmed that it was a ground speed sensor.

Although it does measure speed and distance over ground, it's main function for F1 is slip-angle
This one TR is running is "old" technology using a halogen light (hence why visable) - other teams use a smaller version with LED's and are not visable
