I really cant see anybody beating Mercedes during the current engine regs. period. So all Hamilton needs to do is beat his teammate to secure another 3 WDC's. I hope I am wrong and Ferrari and Red Bull catch up but I wouldn't bet on it. Mercs performance and reliability are streets ahead of the rest.

I think you are right Toto said that the current engine can already manage 7 races so long as they don't turn it up too much and too often, not really what the other manufacturers nor the FIA wanted to hear I'm sure and they recently showed in Brazil and Abu Dhabi what they've got at the other extreme when the gloves were off. I thought he'd got at least another 2 in him but so long as his team mate doesn't get any ideas and Merc deliver on reliability then he's probably got the next 3 stitched up. The only other thing is how long does he want to hang around, you hear conflicting stories from him every fortnight about retiring then next race he's changed his tune, also how long will Merc give him in his new contract and today's news is they would give serious consideration to following Ferrari and pulling out if LM don't change the engine regs for 2021
I think he's got a few left in him. I suppose it's dependent upon when he retires, too.
Personally, I'd be looking at Fangio's record (5 with 3 constructors). Then he can really begin to claim it was his skull, feedback to the engineers and team-building skills that did it rather than necessarily a dominant car.
If I were him, I'd aim to match Shuey's 7 then change constructor and go for #8, retiring once I'd done it or was no longer competitive.

I put three but I guess it all depends on how long he wants to remain in F1 for; can he wrap up 3 more titles in the next three years, probably, however will he start to get bored if he's always ahead?
He still has a year to run with his current contract, he's likely to sign for another three years which will take him to the end of 2021 and 36 years old which is getting on a bit, in F1.

Depends on what Ferrari can achieve. They had the car performance to make it difficult for him this year but didn't capitalise on it. If Ferrari implode again, I find it hard to see anyone else keeping up with Mercedes over the course of a season with the current engine regs and I can't see Bottas providing real competition for at least a couple of years, if then.

I voted for four, i think he should get the next three before the regulation changes, the only fly in the ointment could be Ricciardo arriving.
If he does get the next three i think he would be tempted to go for a fourth so he is out there on his own with eight titles, that's what i would do anyway.

imagine If he does indeed manage it with 3 teams, bags 8 WDC's & beats Schumi's win record in the process ...there would be some in here who would need to go on a 'watch list' & have their belts & shoe laces taken off them
Mercedes are pretty much guaranteed to have the best engine package for the next three years, so just as long as they don't produce a dog of a chassis then he is automatically favourite to win those titles. The question mark is how long he will want to continue for. He's been saying things lately that indicate he is thinking about retirement already, and this next contract will probably be his last in F1. He seems to thrive on competition, so if he has a dominant car and a teammate who can't consistently challenge him then I think he may pack it in after one or two more seasons.

Exactly.I would be amazed if Hamilton retired unless the Mercedes "as you state" produces a rubbish chassis which would be a shock to be fair.
As soon as this changes I can only see Hamilton retiring.
Surprising amount of talk about records, Schumacher etc here. Hamilton has always said he doesn't really care about all that. He's already in league with the very best and is the most successful Brit.
