Sorry I'm sure I've read the info but had a search and can't find anything..

So what campsites are best? Gather they vary in terms of rowdyness - something not dead/family central but still stuff going on would be nice. Any tips?

Thinking of tickets for club or vale if it makes any difference.

Used Dadford Road Campsite http://silverstone-campsite.co.uk/, but wasn't during the F1.

It's a field with toilets, hot showers, and a secret Portaloo that charges your phone and makes ice.

When I’ve been to Silverstone camping - the toilets (Gents) were utterly vile.

I learnt that weekend if you want to use them get to the toilets for a number 2 shave and wash in the sink at 6am otherwise the public who used them were like utter animals (pants adult size full of st thrown to he back of the toilet cubicle, toilets blocked up to the brim with poo bog roll - not portscavins).

I've stayed at woodlands, if you camp away from the entertainment the bogs are better, but its pretty much a festival anyway

not for F1 I've also stayed at whittlebury park, it will be cheaper and nicer but its off site, you can still walk to the circuit but there probably wont be as much to do once the racing finishes despite the fan village being there.

Think woodlands was the one I was looking at. Might do it. Doubt the bogs are any worse than anything I've seen at the many music festivals I've been to.

I'm guessing on site catering is pretty poor? The mrs is gluten and dairy intolerant so we'll have to make provisions. (some of the festivals have really upped their game in recent years, or at least allowed more options rather than big $ pitch high profit/poor product caterer)

We stayed at Woodlands in '15 and '16 and it's great. Big festival atmosphere and real ale at the pub! Plenty to do and a decent variety of grub. The loos were fine but the queues for the showers could get out of hand. We camped twice in the 'Lively' area but have a caravan for this year so we can shower/keep the beer cold!

The site could get quite noisy but it didn't interfere with my sleep (after long days and plenty of aforementioned ale).

For non-official camping we stayed with CampingF1 year before last at Silverstone and it was excellent.

Dadford road is good, no reserved spots and can park right beside your tent. Handy for setting up and additional seats! Been there twice for the GP.

The main site though has great entertainment and a bit more of a 'festival' feel. You're not supposed to be able to get in without a pass, but we managed it somehow. Was a bit drunk, can't quite remember how we got in lol, but then it's hardly fort knox.
