I just watched the highlights on F1's youtube channel. I'm still half asleep so maybe it's a bit exaggerated but the way Crofty SCREAMS AND SOUNDS EXCITED like a teenage boy before his first sexual encounter for most of the footage is simply too much. How does one get in touch with Sky to ask them to tell Crofty to calm down a bit. At least with C4 we used to have choice every now and then, now we're stuck with this.

Croft in recent years, seems to be on a campaign to keep reminding us how SOOOO exciting F1 is and how GREEEAAAT it is..

Indeed.

Excitement on commentary is way more effective when applied where necessary.

Buts he’s wetting himself over everything. It’s very annoying. Brundle is balanced and calm, gets excited as appropriate but ‘Crofty’ seems set up for those who need Velcro rather than laces.

Has he ever been that good? From memory he was a football commentator on 5Live, who was parachuted into the F1 commentary position. He's never come up reporting on the junior categories to build up a decent motorsport knowledge.
He's the F1 version of football's Jonathon Pearce who tends to shout too much.

I used to like him when he first got the gig on 5 live and when he joined Sky, but he just irritates the st out if me now. When I see classic races with James Allen now, it all doesn't seem so bad now.

Blimey. Rose tinted specs! James Allen was referred to as "the cock" on PH....and unanimously the Legard fella was rated worse. It seems it's an impossible job!

At least Crofty (with the help of Martin) has the right racers in mostly the right order. Those old enough to remember Murray will know that hasn't always been true of commentators

The producers tell them how to act. Ben Edwards was highly technical and calm when he did the cart commentrary on Eurosport years ago, but F1 thinks the sport needs extra drama.
