It's been many years since I've been to the F1 at Silverstone but going to the Quali's this year.

I have a hotel reserved some 18 miles north of the circuit for the Saturday night, but intend to get to the hotel early Saturday morning (~6am) and taxi in to the circuit, and out again around 6pm. Has anyone done this?

Presume taxi drivers want to give these journeys a wide berth on race weekend? Are there better options?

I believe there is a bus service from Northampton FC but that's not great in respect to the hotel location.

Thanks.

I'd go direct to Silverstone and park in the village charity parking at the school and walk in. You have to pre-book, but that'll be easier than a taxi

Get a taxi to the bus stop?

Purpose of getting the hotel is to allow a few beers during the day, so I won't be driving or cycling!

I'd rather go direct from hotel to circuit and back to hotel if possible. Less hassle.

What's the point of going to the hotel at 6am though? Your room won't be available.

I'm just leaving the car there so it's ready for the drive home Sunday morning.

Further research now complete - it seems I can indeed get a cab in. Thanks for the responses.

"A taxi drop-off/pick-up point is located in car park 25 behind the Silverstone UTC. Please be aware that taxis will need to follow a very specific route, entering Silverstone Village from the north, to avoid getting caught in the A43 one-way system and being forced into the circuit parking - check your driver understands the route in advance."

Surely there'll be a load of Uber drivers in the area? Loads of work for them I'd have thought.
