Looking to go for the Saturday with the family, do I need to pay for circuit parking or is there another cheaper / free alternative? £30 on top of the ticket prices seems a bit cheeky...

The fact you even have to pay is insane, but 30 quid wold make me walk away and never go back I am afraid.

if you are even considering it, well.

But ,there again , I think that on past form ,Mr Chunder might still find a bone to pick if Silverstone paid YOU to park ... Bless.

Is that standard form? I hoped such an innocuous question might prompt a more useful reply

Google “silverstone schools parking” or try one of the online sites like “park on my drive”.
There are plenty of people in the village who rent their drive for the day. Alternatively there are other off circuit car parks in fields run by the locals usually priced at £10 or £20. They’re within a 15 minute walk into the circuit.

oh what a surprise, another thing the bloke who doesn't pay for anything won't pay for, silverstone must be crying over that.

Spoiler alert - you'll think the race is st toolaugh

And then come on here and whine about it no doubt.

OK take a step back username freaks.

IN what world is charging THIRTY pounds to park your car fair, decent, even morally right? They don't do it at Le Mans, a far bigger event. Or at the Nurburgring in many places, again a far bigger event.

The bloody pace is surrounded by farm land, you do not pay for parking at any other circuit in the country that I know of unless you park inside.

I have been there on busy days and there are fields and fields empty nearby, all their land as it is used for storage etc.

This is opportunism gone so wrong it is criminal, and sorry but if you are even considering it you deserve to be called out.

What are you paying for? The privilege of parking your car. Are you paying for security? Are you paying for the buses? If so why do they not charge at every other meeting?

I know they charge at MotoGP, so why is it only big meetings they charge for parking?

If you don't know why and then reject the dump as a result you need your head looking at sorry.

I am all for making a profit, but ripping people off coz you can is deplorable. I am sure there are alternatives, but going to these big events now is just an excuse for everyone and anyone involved to rip you off, hence I never go to them. Food, drinks, camping, parking, programs, tickets, merchandise, local hotels.

Call me a killjoy if you like, I revel in it and love calling out people who mention it as I find them hilarious. But the more you keep paying this crap, the more you will be ripped off, but bizarrely thousands of you seem happy to be! More fool you quite honestly.

Even with the charges - Silverstone despite record ticket sales and record crowds, are losing more and more money each year (Over £5m). So not making a profit - overall, by definition, they are not ripping anyone off, they are subsidising them.

The thing is, I was only asking for an answer to a simple question. That's all.

I’ve used Silverstone schools parking in previous years and they’ve been great. Proceeds go to the school. Park up and a 15-20 minute walk to the circuit.

Noted. Thanks. Hopefully it's only a 15 minute walk. I'll have my boys (4&7 years old) and I suspect on the way back I'll have to be carrying the little one...

It's called supply and demand. A basic principle of doing business. If you can sell all your parking spaces at £20 and turn people away then you charge £30 the next year. If the event makes a massive profit then maybe you can afford to be the "nice" guy but that's not the case here.

Parking in a field at Austin is £100-130 ish. You can do a bus from the city if you prefer. The parking lots are full and everyone is paying for the overall experience not the patch of grass.

Maybe one or two people stay at home in protest and rant; hope they get over it.

Just checked and the cheeky Silverstone fkers want £40 for the Park & Ride. What's all that about? When they introduced it to get people away from the circuit it was free.

Then £10. Then £20. Then £30. Now £40

Guess it's £50 next yearlaugh
