What a great listen! Thanks for this, I'd have missed it otherwise.

I’ve downloaded it ready to listen on the drive home.
To be fair, every episode has been to a high standard, full of information and plenty of laughs.
He even did one with a guy called Dave Edmonston, who went by the name of Piston Ted and started some website called Pistonheads. I wonder what happened to it...

I heard it went downhill and became populated by self righteous bellends biggrin

The F1 section remains epically good though wink

The Harry Metcalfe one is equally engaging and worth listening to.

Excellent - just started with the Brundle episode which brought back memories of seeing him race in county series BMWs at Brands and watching him better Moss in the Audi 80 . Decent , grown up questioning too- I enjoy the Tom Clarkson F1 podcasts but he is a little starry eyed about his guests , is no Andrew Neil on the question front and sounds like a kids' TV presenter .

And if you want to hear a masterpiece of self mythologising, humble bragging and toe curling egotism you could do no better than to listen to Nigel Mansell on the Motor Sport magazine pod cast .

Well if you mortgaged your home to get a drive with Lotus you too could self mythologise.

But others made similar sacrifices -remember the graft which Andretti put in or how Derek Daly worked in Aussie mines . And bloody hell , I mortgaged my first home to buy a Suzuki SC 100 . Granted , it wasn't one of my wiser decisions ....

Well it depends doesn't it. To me Mansell is a legend, as he grew up near me. Actually his house is about 10 minutes walk away from where I live, and 10 minutes walk away from where Murray Walker was born. It's also near where Jasper Carrott grew up but we won't talk about him.

Personally I think Mansell gets a hard time because, well he has a boring voice to begin with but I think it's more to do with the fact he's a Brummie. Everyone evangelises Button when he had a fairly easy path in to F1. And don't forget Mansell did a lot for F1, he'd have been a multiple world champion if not for a puncture, and you don't get to the pinnacle of a sport without being a bit of a dhead.

Don't misunderstand me , I was a huge admirer of Mansell as a driver . I was at Brands for his first GP win , and (luckily ) was in the Stowe grandstand when he mugged Piquet and the place erupted. It is just the whining noise that started when he turned the engine off -not the accent , but the content . Frank Dernie's Motorsport podcast is wickedly funny on that .

Mansell has a fantastic record as a driver , in both F1 and Indy, so why he feels he still has to play the victim card in public I really don't know
