Finally some good news biggrin

(Mostly joking..)

And not 'postponed', sacked off entirely for 2020.

Whatever season we do get later this year, if any, at least fears of a double header at the dullest circuit of them all can now be put to one side.

I was worried that the 'multiple races at Paul Ricard using its many layouts' idea would gain traction.

Most odd, of all the races that could be run behind closed doors without spectators that was the one event that we wouldn't notice any difference with.

True. On the other hand, if we have to lose half the planned circuits this year, I'm sure Paul Ricard would-be at the top of most fans 'sack it off' list.

Very strange, unless the French govt have politely requested that they don't run.

Seems an easy win for F1 to look to hold races at places like that. No atmosphere or noticeable crowds anyway and within easy road transport reach of all the teams

That was the fear - it made so much sense I felt there was a real risk of a Ricard double header..

I too assume there must be some external pressure for the circuit to announce themselves out of the running in 2020 ahead of technically needing to do so.

BBC reporting:

“France's nuanced announcement on Monday that its race was off does not preclude the fact that talks are ongoing about holding a race at the Paul Ricard circuit later in the summer - it would just not be the official French Grand Prix.”

So not all good news..........though Benson also says:

“But under the current trajectory, with many European countries looking to be going down the backside of the coronavirus infection”.... so maybe he’s been drinking.

(I must confess that I left the word ‘curve’ off the end of the last quote...... wink

Monza is actually marginally closer to Calais for UK teams to travel from than Paul Ricard.

I looked it up as I knew PR was way down south but not sure just how far ,it really is about as far as you can go from the north.

I would bet the Tifosi can find access to inside Monza if the race was supposed to be closed to them.

Monza usually in September and if Italy get sorted out ,maybe the original date can be kept ?
