I think they should go NASCAR racing with the GTC4 Lusso.

Ferrari to Indy as well as F1? That’s what the article says, let em crack on. It worked out well for the last F1 team who tried to do both.

They wont run Indy or nascar for the same reason US teams wont come to europe and look ordinary.

Probably not, but a neat way around the budget cap.

Indycar is basically a spec series bar the engines, isn't it? Would Ferrari be interested in that? They might be able to produce a competitive engine (although I wouldn't bet on it with the engine regs having been stable for a good few years), but other than that the only value-add they'd have would be running the team which, how can I put this, isn't exactly their forte. biggrin

I can see the logic, it might be cheaper to transfer staff to a new project in another series even if that new venture isn't very successful. And of course, from a marketing point of view simply making the announcement would attract media interest overnight.

Lots of reasons why it might not work out well but not necessarily reasons why it isn't still a good option when the alternative is to simply lay off staff.

I guess they could always give the team a different name until they know whether they'll be competitive or not. smile

I wish they’d forget this Indycar nonsense and just go back to LeMans proper - it’s been too long

Not sure how you count a car that didn't turn a wheel

That project was passed to Alfa Romeo and the engine raced in Indycar for 3 seasons.

It was an intent. It's not clear how serious the intent was. It looks to me like they put a fair bit of effort into it. But Enzo was very old by then so I reckon the personal drive to see it through had faded.

Ferrari International Assistance would not work in their favour in the USA like it does in F1.
