A separate thread so that the F1 thread can remain free of spoilers and off-topic conversations.

Less than a second covering the top 20 in the F3 qualifying, sets things up for a good race tomorrow morning. Will be interesting to see how much overtaking we get, it looks as if the main straight with the DRS is going to be the only opportunity.

It's been a fantastic F3 season. Best as any imo.

This is the first season I've watched the support races and sessions in full, they definitely fill in the bits that people complain are 'missing' from F1!

I normally watch/record the F2, but haven't previously bothered to record the F3. When I had looked at some of the F3 races previously they didn't seem that great.

Sounds like I was maybe unlucky in the ones I happened to see, and I definitely need to watch the races this season.

F2 qualifying about to get underway, likely to be fun.

As others have said, Alex Brundle sounds like a slightly squeakier version of his father.

Mick Schumacher’s a lucky boy with that pirouette, so is Luca Giotto. All these kids not used to seeing gravel traps just outside the racing line.

These F2 boys sure are busy behind the wheel! Makes the F1 guys look like they’re driving to the shops when you see the in car footage.

Only just caught up with F2 qualifying. Looks very close between the top three.

These boys aren’t used to ending up in gravel when running (or pushing each other) wide. Can’t help but feel a safety car is a nailed on certainty tomorrow at some point.

Not sure why it's in the F1 forum though.

Because it’s purpose was to prevent people posting in the F1 thread. Many of those people will have their forum settings only showing favourites, and may well have Formula 1 but not General Motorsport. It was therefore posted in F1 so they would be aware of it. (As well as being part of the same event, obviously)

Also it would likely get lost in the 'General motorsport' subforum.
We have a lot of MotoGP fans here, but no sub forum for it?! (But that's ok, we have a 'Britcar' one, which is obviously more popular)

So here we go, F3 with the first race of the weekend. This one should give us a good idea if there’s going to be any overtaking opportunities other than at the end of the main straight.

Was there any explanation given why they didn’t provide a fuel sample last week?

Yes the was only 0.005 kg of fuel left in the tank due to a leak. TD requires 0.8kg.

The MotoGP boys do 1:47 around here I think. Expecting 1:15 for f1 qualifying!
Anyone want to open the can of worms?

That’s very harsh. Sampling point is just prior to the injector rail, I’d have thought there’d be ample in the collector and lines to get enough for a sample, so long as the car is then above min. Weight then I can’t see the issue.

I know the FIA series scrutineers and doubt they’d be so harsh without reason to do so.

Given that he pulled over after the first chicane on the cool-down lap, he came very close indeed to not finishing the race. If they could only find 50g of fuel in the car then it was running on fumes. The 0.8kg mandated sample is about a litre of fuel, not sure there would be that much in the lines.

Well, if this F3 race is a taster of what’s to come this weekend, we’re in for a fantastic couple of days’ racing! 21 laps of pretty much non-stop action.
