Silverstone First Timer

I’m taking my two sons to Silverstone next year (buying this year as a Christmas present).
I’d appreciate any tips for anyone who has done it, where to sit, where to stay etc.
We did the Silverstone Experience last month and we stayed in the Silverstone Premier Inn, but I imagine I’d be selling a kidney on race weekend to get in there.

Good luck with that. Our idiot leaders will still have us in lockdown for a wimpy little cold virus.
Where to sit? Villiage A or B. You can see the cars over the largest portion of track. The View is also a decent vantage point. Stowe B is a good spot, no cover though.
Where to stay. No idea. I deliberately live down the road so it's never been an issue.

I do actually lol but my bro and dad stay over before race day. I should charge them.
I've been to village 3 times. My favourite spot for action. If you get a seat more than half way up you can see cars go through Beckett's, the end of Hanger straight and through Stowe. Get in the top row and you can watch them go down Wellington straight as well.

t go down. A weekend grandstand ticket gives you "roving" access to all the grandstands on Fri/sat so you get to enjoy a few different aspects for p/q/support races. Although god knows what's happening next year - Are there tickets available? I thought most 2020 tickets were deffered, and given theres talk of reduced capacity (at best) for 21 I'm wondering where extra tickets will be found?

Get the right seats in Woodcote and you can see them come down Wellington straight, through brooklands, luffield and woodcotte and disappear all the way down to copse.
That's Woodcote A grandstand. It's right opposite the Wellington straight, so you get to see the cars come directly towards you.The View is the only little one where you can see opposite the start line.

I’d echo the Stowe recommendation, it’s a fair walk from most car parks and tat stalls but it’s a good view and you see the cars for a fair while, there’s a big screen on the infield and as an added bonus, the Red Arrows come in fast and low from behind! Only snag is it’s uncovered, or at least it was a few years back
If you ask 20 different people where is best you'll get 20 different answers.
I sat in Village once for the race. Top right corner of Village B so all I had to do was look to my left and I saw the cars disappearing up Wellington Straight. Bloke beside me was none to pleased as he asked me when I sat down at 9:30am on race day how I managed to get my seat. I told him I specifically asked for it because of the view.... he replied that he knew that and that he had asked for it also but was told it was sold. He didn't mutter another word to me for the rest of the day
If you're there on the Friday use it to walk the track and sit in all grandstands to watch some action and then you can decide what's best for your next visit. Because there will be another.
My favourite spot was Club, opposite the podium. You see them coming into Vale, around Club, up the straight into Abbey, plus all the pitlane and all the pre race action.
If it goes ahead you'll love it.

I stay in Stratford Upon Avon, well just outside near the M40 - its far enough away where prices dont change and you can actually drive in about an hour or so which I am not quite sure how it worked but traffic always seemed quieter than if you were south of the track. The team would stay in a hotel in Banbury and I was always back to my hotel before them even though we set off at the same time.
Also to get into the track I would take the village turn at Brackley go through the village and out on Brackley Road A422 down to the cross roads then turn left towards stowe village and come in that way.
