Arise Sir Lewis...

But he just has the fastest...
Well done Lewis, did us all proud
Further proof that a minority kid with a family of limited means doesn't need to look at the world and think "this is it for me". In true F1 style, it really doesn't matter where you start, it's where you finish that counts.
And he didn't even cheat to get there!

The Daily Wail also broke the embargo on the announcements today, with a story they posted on 29th, suggesting it was happening.https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-9100215/F...

Now feels like a good time for him to get it - it was either this year, next if he wins again and beats MS record, or when he retires. It had to happen on merit and I think even those who don't like Lewis would have to accept he's done a great job. Whether he pays more tax abroad than in the UK shouldn't be an issue - it doesn't stop others in the entertainment world being nominated, nor business folk with far more intricate tax affairs.

What will sparta6 say about this? He'll be in bed right now but he's in for one hell of a shock in the morning when his mum wakes him up and relays the news..

Arise Sir Mercedes of Brackley
I really couldn't care less about this, he has achieved a lot yes and is the dominant man right now, but has also done it in a car that any one of 5 or 6 guys could have done the same.
But he fits the profile, the BLM thing means he would have risen to the top, despite not really understanding that the reason black people don't get involved primarily is that on the whole they are not really interested, any one who works with black people daily could tell him that. If he lived here he might get that a bit more.
I also don't care for the fact that he has no real base here, he just comes from here, he will NEVER live here again, has no pride whatsoever in where he comes from, and uses his nationality as a flag waving PR exercise to sell merch. He WANTS to be American you can see it in everything he does, and he will spend the rest of his life in and around the USA I guess.
And it means it gives all the media a chance to faun over him even more.
My liking for this man died the day he was the ONLY driver not to appear in London to promote the British GP in 2017, to me he stopped being British from that day onwards.

Hamilton will undoubtedly go down as one of the best ever racing drivers. He has the titles/ silverware and a huge amount of money to prove it.
BUT!! I can't help but think that the Knighthood/ Dame thing is a bit outdated and needs overhauling. Being Knighted should be a very special award, they seem to give them away to sportspeople/ celebrities far too often.
By all means give them as many of the 'BEs as you want. but 'Sir', not for me. The recipient should have done something a bit more than drive around a track, be good at sport or make lots of films/ some theatre stuff??
I think it devalues the knighthood somewhat?

I think that horse has well and truly bolted - sports personalities have regularly received knighthoods since around the middle of last century and motor racing has had a large number of them.BUT!!
