The XXXVIII Sega European Grand Prix.
Discussion
Quite the catchy title for a Grand Prix, and a nice little article about the time Sega decided to sponsor F1

I really wanted Virtua Racing as a kid, but my Mum was obviously loathe to spend £70 on a game. That's about £150 in today's money. For just one game!
Wow, now I feel incredibly spoilt
I had Virtua Racing Deluxe on the 32X, it was pretty impressive to young me, although really it was Gran Turismo (just 4 years later in the EU

Obviously as a kid I had no concept of the cost back then, I think getting my dad in to Sonic must have helped a lot with gaming related expenditure.

Anyway, I finally got round to playing it on an emulator a couple of years ago. It was rubbish.

It's one of those games that was an incredible achievement at the time but doesn't hold up well today. I remember getting it from Beatties with my Christmas money as it was "only" £40. It blew my mind at the time as my only racing game experience had been stuff like Road Rash and Lotus Turbo ChallengeAnyway, I finally got round to playing it on an emulator a couple of years ago. It was rubbish.

It amazes me how much computer games cost back in the day. In the early 90's my young sister got Space Ace for our Atari ST...It must have cost just under £50 so you can imagine our Mum's reaction when my sister proudly announced she had finished it about 3 hours after having unwrapped it.
I was at the European Grand Prix in '93. I am surprised the trophy survived the cold!

I felt similar about Daytona USA. Incredible arcade machines but not quite the same on console. Sega Rally 2 was a good port through. I want a Castrol coloured GT4 to this day!Anyway, I finally got round to playing it on an emulator a couple of years ago. It was rubbish.
