Last year when George drove Lewis car he had difficulty getting comfortable in the car , Have Mercedes made this year's or for that matter next year car with more room, Should they want him in it?

Odd question

Mercedes will have done nothing different with this year's car, because he won't be driving it.

For next year, nobody knows what they've done yet...... IF they sign him as a driver I assume they'll ensure he can fit in the car comfortably.

I think too much was made of him struggling to fit in the car. It was a situation brought on by the extremely short time they had with him. If I recall they didn't even know Lewis wasn't driving until a couple of days before the race itself. I think that even if they'd just had another week they could have made the car more comfortable, like a redesigned pedal box or something like that.

Even if they sign him in January next year I think that gives them enough time to sort out any fitting problems, even if it means a new tub.

If he’s offered the chance to drive it, he’ll find a way to fit!

Are they not the same tubs as last year, hence no change?

That's what I thought.
A propos of nothing in particular, but sort of relevant, when my son was karting we changed chassis and we were given a very precise measurement for the seat position. When I asked if we could move the seat back an inch as said son was long in the leg, I was told only half jokingly " the seat stays where it is, cut his legs down".
In other words, as said above, he'll find a way to fit if he has to!!

I doubt they will swap this season. But I also bet the 2022 car will be able to fit him......

Yes.. end of thread smile

They probably could accommodate an extra inch or two by redesigning the seat and pedals but seriously.... I just don't believe Mercedes are as excited by the idea of kicking bottas mid season as PH members are. He's been great for the team and it's his seat for this season. Next season.. probably will be George and I'm sure the designers are taking account of that for the new tub.
