The whole car looks lower and possibly smaller overall? Might just be the camera angle though. Should make Monaco a bit better if they are.

not sure about the look, however I guess that come 2022 the actual cars will be quite different

We’ve seen renders of this before. What’s actually new about this vs. earlier images of the 2022 car?

A triumph of style over substance, some of the arty-farty graphics were so bad I could hardly see what they were supposed to be. And all we wanted to see was the car itself - well, the 0.5% who haven't already seen it, anyway.

Besides which, as I've said elsewhere, I'm sure when the actual cars appear they won't look anything like this as the designers pepper them with vanes, winglets, boards, diffusers etc, everywhere they're not specifically forbidden.

If this is 'the car' how much of it are the teams able to change or do their own thing with? I still don't know whether every car will be identical to this in different colours, or whether Newey and co are seeing this saying to themselves "Yeah, ours doesn't look like that"

The cars will be shorter; the new maximum wheelbase is slightly shorter than that of the shortest cars on the grid at the moment.

Have we not had all this before, renders of possible F1 cars, and then we get crappy noses and winglets all over the place, sprouting from all over the car where the rules are grey -
cue a lot of appeals, quick fix rules changes, and more protests about legalities of wings and flexibility.

imho - throw away the 99% of the rule book, 4 tyres, 1 compound, thats it - dont even have drivers in the car if they dont want ! ;-)

Oh, an even more mahoosive front wing? Just what we need given how easily the current ones get knocked off when racing closely.....

It does look a lot more substantial though, both around the mounting point and the endplates themselves. So it should be less fragile in theory, though it depends on how the rules are interpreted by each team!

Disgusting.
Looks like one of those many pretend renders of a would be 2031 F1 Racing game. One step away from a sort of driverless drone F1 car..driven remotely from the pits by a half human half computer.
Enjoy the rest of this season while it lasts.

The holographic effect on the launch model in the studio did it no favours at all. A bit ‘rainbow road’.

I agree with the drivers, it looks pretty good from the front wheels back. The front wing is pretty ugly. The chord is too deep and the height and curve looks a bit odd- but if this is the right direction for better racing then I’m onboard.

I think the real life cars in real life liveries will look much better.

Watching it now. I’m confused by “One Begins”. Perhaps it will be explained.

It will be interesting to see how much variation they can have on the cars to see how the teams can improve their performance over the others..

Cars are not exactly works of art BUT if they enable closer following through corners etc it should make the racing more exciting.

Agreed. It should have been a plain colour all over to make the shape a bit clearer. I'd have suggested yellow, as none of the existing teams currently use it.

Glad at that twiddly bargeboard ste the computer tells them to make is gone. Shame the front wing is still so big.
It will be funny if the teams at the back few rows just replicate this car exactly.
