Who is going to win WDC / WCC and why?
Discussion
Seems to be plenty of chat around the drivers and the personalities involved, car legality etc on several threads - no option for a poll, but my thoughts are:
WDC: Lewis Hamilton
WCC: Redbull
If you had asked me a few weeks ago, (and I said it on a thread here) I didn't think Mercedes would win again on merit; they have proven that wrong in style!
With Bottas seemingly aiming to get gardening leave I can't see Mercedes retaining the WCC though.
What do you think?

Agree, I think Lewis will win the next race like he did the last one with Max unable to get near to him. This will mean they go into the last race on equal points and Hamilton will again get pole and lead the whole race, a boring conclusion to the season. That is unless Max does a Senna, goes for an impossible overtake on the first corner and takes them both out.WCC: Redbull
I think Mercedes are going to do both no probs. I think they have the better car for the final few rounds in the middle East. I think they have a strategy with their engines which is going to allow them to stun Red Bull. We know Hamilton has a 'spicy' engine for the final two rounds but Bottas must have a deep pool to draw from too.
People are saying Perez is going to do it for Red Bull but he qualified 11th at the weekend with no explanation. Bottas should've started 3rd but for the penalty.
The behavior of Red Bull management betrays that they feel as though they're on the back foot. Their constant empty protests is beginning to look like excuses and management of expectations.

No idea, but managed to secure a package consisting of 5 nights at Atlantis, tickets for practice day, qualifying and race day (Yas Marina) along with grandstand passes, return flights from Heathrow for less than £1,500.00.
Can't wait, will be epic
Never been to a F1 race before
That’s an awesome deal. The grandstand tickets are going for close to £500 on their own, and Atlantis is a very nice place to spend a few days…Can't wait, will be epic

Maybe I’ll start a “PHers going to the last race” thread, and we can all arrange to go for a beer at some point during the weekend?
On Topic, I think the momentum is with Mercedes and Lewis, they have the quickest car and the last two circuits are likely to favour them.

If Lewis wins the next two races then it is almost certain that Mercedes will also win the WCC, baring non finishes for any reason.
Mercedes currently have a 5 point lead. Lewis 1st, Max 2nd, x2 would extend that advantage to 19 points. This means that Sergio needs to take 20 points more than Valtteri in two races, with only 3rd place and fastest lap points available to him. The absolute best he can do is 32 points, so Vaterri only needs 13 points at most from the last two races if Lewis wins them both for Mercedes to be WCC champions. If Mercedes can also get a fastest lap in one of the two races, then Valtteri only needs one 4th place or two 7th place finishes if Lewis wins both.

I would think Lewis but then after remembering 2007, 2012 (which still hurts) and 2016 I'm going to say Max as in each of the above cases the driver who seemed a dead cert ended up not winning in the final round.
WCC is entirely dependent on Bottas and Perez. Bottas qualifies better and goes backwards, Perez qualifies worse and moves forwards. So it's a complete coin toss.

Lewis & Merc
Merc have finally got their floor working, plus engine reliability issues figured/sorted on tracks that should suit their cars ...giving them at least a 0.5s advantage in Lewis's hands & 3/10ths in Valtteri's- so even if they get off the line poorly they'll reel in whoever passed them
so i'm predicting boring Merc 1-2's in both races, with the 1-2 in Jeddah eliminating any chance of shenanigans in Abu, i'd even go as far as Max getting frustrated in the next quali or race & binning it, making Abu even more of an anti-climax
not that i got my last 2 predictions right
