Looks like Williams decided they don't need his cash after all.

So is DeVries in?

You'd have to argue he's more deserving on pure talent, if that can be judged on one race w/e (which I guess you can, it's a lot more than 'just a test'). Can't think who else would get it.

I suspect de Vries will be in somewhere, but IMO probably not at Williams. My best guess is:

Gasley to Alpine
de Vries to Alpha Tauri
Someone from F2 to Williams

What’s happened, has he been sacked?

Perhaps he will move to Endurance Racing or Formula E.

I suspect Mercedes will want de Vries in at Williams and out of the hands of Marko.

Problem is De Vries is out of contract with Mercedes at the end of the year IINM. So he can do what he likes.....

Rumour is that Williams will take Logan Sargeant. American.......

He finished 21 out of 20 (23) in 2020 as well.

His Dad bought the dream for him.. and he wasn't good enough.

Seemed a nice enough chap though.. and if my Dad had the money, I wouldn't object hehe

Yes this. Hes not the first, he wont be the last. I would if my Dad had the cash, and I would for my children if I had the cash.

Sadly for him, his legacy will be the crash which forced the issue which decided the 2021 championship.

Plus no matter how much money you have, a serious level of skill is needed to even be in contention for an F1 seat. Perhaps said money is also the only reason we still have a Williams F1 team as well.

None of what happened in AD can be laid at the door of Latifi, and the abuse he took after the race was disgusting.

I'll always be grateful that his cash kept Williams afloat prior to Dorilton's purchase, and I've not once heard him moan (compare to Stroll, Mazepin). Good job Latifi..

Williams will take de Vries, unless Alpine or AT want him. If de Vries becomes unavailable it will be Logan Sergeant (who looks ok in F2).

Mazepin was 21st last year.

Latifi was a nice guy, but thankfully the changes in the sport now mean that the teams towards the back of the grid can get by with a driver selected on merit, rather than bank balance.

I’m sure Williams will be happier chasing prize money with de Vries next season, than with sponsorship from Latifi.

I barely if ever contemplate Latifi's role, and didn't at the time. All came down Masi and his shocker manipulation of the rules, that undermined a whole season for everyone.
