Probably rumour/scuttlebutt as the Yanks say.
But, a colleague of a mate has just handed in her notice because her hubby who works for JLR has been offered a post at their upcoming F1 team.
If true, they've bought a current team om the quiet?

Likely or someone's misheard canteen chit chat?

Half way through the first race they will issue an immediate safety recall, followed by the cars sitting in the garage for 3 months waiting for parts.

perfect sense. If the climate is giving us extreme weather, what drivers really need is competent four weather racing cars with hill decent control (think the elevation changes at Spa, COTA) . JLR alterady have the tech.

And rememebr an F1 car only needs to do a few hundred KM's between rebuilds. JLR already have the...

I can’t see this one bit.

What would Range Rover / Land Rover as a brand gain from F1 exposure? Surely the wrong area of motorsport.

Jaguar. Formula E would be more in line with their supposed shift to all electric. Jaguar seem to be sinking rather than supporting an F1 operation.

Could they actually afford an F1 team again?

If JLR are connected with it, it will break down on the way to the grid, and they won't have any spares

Not a chance.

Even if they wanted to, which I am not sure they would, they would have to convince the FIA and FOM to let them play. We’ve seen how well that goes.

No way. The F1 community is too small for such a big (£1bn+) idea not to be leaked.

Now it is possible that a small team might be created to evaluate an F1 entry, but they would be bound by all sorts of career ending NDAs, so not canteen chat.
