It was very sad, but Gilles was a very true guy, almost naive really as Scheckter says.

He was the talent of his generation. But was also his own worst enemy.

Pironi was a strange guy really, only he would know what he threw awat that day at Imola, the agreement was simple, Piccinini was a colossal prick, if Forghieri had been there it would never have happened, such was F1 back then.

Some say Gilles should have got over it, was too bothered, but to say that was to misunderstand the man, he thought Dider was a friend, he and Joan both were a little shocked to not be at his wedding, and then this.

Having said that, when you see what Didiers wife had to deal with later on, you realise how utterly selfish these men are, Gillespie crashed because he was full of rage and revenge, Didier crashed cozhe refused to lift in a situation where others did

A waste twice over sadly

When I was a kid, Villeneuve and Toivonen were my heroes. As an adult, I understood that due the way they raced, neither of them were destined to last long in this world.

One of Didier Peroni's son, Gilles Peroni works as an engineer for the Mercedes F1 team and was on the podium at the British GP in 2020.

I thought it very poignant that in the beginning Jilles and didier were best friends when they started at Ferrari

and then Peroni's girlfriend having twins and naming them jiles and didier
