Doing the Italian GP advice please.

It has to be this time to do it if Ferrari are in with a shout.
Never been. So I'm looking for the official Monza site and we would be looking to camp Friday - Sunday.
I can see the general admission tickets are pish and likely a mad rush for a only a couple of good spots, so maybe looking at inside parabolic grandstand tickets.
So anyone had camping experience? What's the official Monza site? Can you camp through circuit admission (circuit camp sites, booked through the main site) or is private/local the way?
We would be flying there so transport is public/on foot.

I went last year. We had grandstand seats at the first chicane. From what I could see general admission was mostly first come, first served bleachers. Numbers were very limited and the ones we passed were all full by the time we got to the track early each day.
We were in stand 8b, which was also bleachers, so we took folding seat back things and inflatable cushions to make it a bit more comfortable. I would highly recommend doing this if the grandstand you’re looking at are bleachers.
Aside from that, we didn’t camp so can’t advise on that.

I went a couple of years ago.
Absolutely get a grandstand, the general admission is rammed hours and hours before each session and due to the layout of the track you'll be lucky to see anything at all without a grandstand.
There were issues reported last year that people without appropriate tickets were just walking into grandstands and sitting down, so you might still want to plan to be there early.
Personally I wouldn't rely on public transport, get a hire car and park at GP Monza Parking P1 on Via Madonna delle Nevi, I booked in advance but there was still free places even on Sunday, exiting via Biassono got us back to Milan much quicker than the packed, hot train would.
Take a water bottle with you, there's plenty of refill opportunities and it will be hot.
Don't forget to investigate the old, banked circuit, though unless you're very lucky / sneaky don't expect to walk up it, they station marshals to stop that.
At the end of the race, get yourself onto the start-finish straight, we ended up almost directly below the podium and it made the weekend really.

I did it last year. 100% get grandstand, you won't see anything if you go GA. It'll be hot, take a hat and water bottle especially if it's an open grandstand.
The Italians have this mad queueing system where you queue once to pay for the thing that you want, then queue again to collect the thing. So check you're in the correct queue at the bar or risk being sent to the back of the other one after queueing for half an hour. Ask me how I know...
We didn't camp so can't comment on that but the public transport into/out of the circuit runs very well, I was impressed.
We got onto the old banked circuit no problem, it's incredibly steep, well worth seeing while you're there.
I had a fantastic time, wish I could go again this year.

I sat at one of the Primo Variente open grandstands in 2012. I stayed at a small hotel close to Milan station and came in and out easily enough by train. It’s a fair walk from station to track (make sure you research which station you need depending on where you’re sitting), but there’s a great atmosphere among all the fans hiking in, cheering, singing, flags waving etc.
Things might have changed, but change happens slowly in Italy, so these few extra points are probably still relevant:
- Food stall options at the track are fantastic (certainly by Silverstone standards). There was a full, high-quality hog roast immediately behind our grandstand every day, and the espresso & croissants on arrival each day were fantastic. Makes a change from Silverstone Schools’ bacon butties (not better or worse, just equally iconic!).
- Make sure you walk around and inside the track as much as possible, certainly on the Friday. It’s wonderfully evocative hearing the sounds of racing engines filtering through the trees.
- Inside at Parabolica you could get really close to the cars - I expect this is still possible - far closer than, say, outside at Maggotts at Silverstone, with minimal catch fencing. It’s really hard to keep up when panning with a camera from there.

Went to Monza last year and a Grandstand seat at the pit exit so could see plenty of action and big tv in front, also under shade as mentioned above it was very hot!!
we stayed in a hotel in Como had a hire car for the 3 days we were there and tried the official GP parking for friday which is just a field and all were saying booked solid for the sat and Sun but by chance we found a gret parking place at:- Oratorio Maschile San Luigi, just ourside of the national park by the first corner.it was cheap, they had toilets, parking, cafe, bar and fast food, freindly staff . i think it is a school .
After the race on sunday, guys we wer with walked to the coach to get a lift back to the hotel, my daugther an i managed to get onto the track and stand 3 people back from the huge Ferrari flag while trophies were handed out, 1,000 photos, walked back to the parking, had spag bol, drinks and a wee, drove back to the hotel in Como and beat everyone else who were on the coach!!
Must haves - hat, comfortable shoes and a refillable bottle they do have water on tap all around the circuit, and for your info i had a 1 litre plastic bottle of water which they would not let me in, 2 x 500ml was ok.
get tickes and go enjoy yourself
