Another week and another GP. I was in Singapore a few weeks ago, and I'm looking forward to seeing the cars race on a circuit that was being built during my holiday.

I guess the 2 big questions are 1) Can Mercedes make the upgrade work and 2) Can Red Bull keep the RB22 in its sweet-spot for another win?

The race is a night race, but P1 will be busier than normal as it’s a Sprint Weekend. The circuit should suit the power units with no massive straights to empty the battery.

Red Bull was the class of the field in Malaysia. Max has a great chance of a win here and gets my vote.

Here’s to a great race.

Thank you, Piap. Much appreciated.

Merc might have sorted out their fabulous, much faster, brilliant upgrage set that appears to be costing them time as well as money.

Both LH and CLC did well last rast and I reckon could compete for a step higher at the finish. RB are unlikely to have lost their advantage over the rest of the field and, to my mind, is the fastest car at the moment.

Sprint weekend. I'll miss it live, unfortunately, as I'm going to a steampunk festival on Sat. At my age I'll probably remember a lot of the gear they'll wear, but Sunday, at least from midday, I'm available.

Looking forward to it.

I've failed to mention McL for obvious reasons.

Voted Kimi. It'll likely be him or Lewis.

Poor old George's woes continue as he has a grid penalty and will start from the back. I don't think Merc would have wanted to do it at Singapore but the PU expiry last weekend has seemingly forced their hand.

Otherwise it could be anyone's this weekend. Hoping for a bit better from Mclaren.

I was surprised to hear Max hasn't won in Singapore before but think he's on a roll at the moment.

Voted Kimi too, but I expected more people to have voted Max given how well the RBR is running now.

But apparently Lewis gets the most votes so far!

It should be one of those three...

Maybe
Maybe, he's managed to lose from the front of the grid a few times recently.

Never lose the faith Derek!

Well... At least wait until it inevitably all goes wrong again, before you do...

Wet Race 2. The Sequel. Will Ferrari start on Softs again? Can Russell do a Kimi and win from the back?

He couldn't beat Kimi when he started at the front. Harsh but... he couldn't.

But besides Kimi and George, anyone in a fast car who starts at the back here is going to struggle. It's Singapore, passing is not at all easy.

Can't see anyone other than Kimi winning this although Lewis does go well here.... If he was in the Merc I'd put money on his winning, but he has a Ferrari and their strategy team to race against.

I think Kimi for a Sprint race win and Max for the GP. The Red Bull looked superb in Sepang and Max will want to get his first race win here.
Weather has been dry for the last few days but rain forecast Friday, Saturday and especially Sunday, tho when and where it will fall is always an unknown here.
Does George have to start at the back for the Sprint race and the GP?

Big cheer for Valtteri Bottas, who should arrive in Singapore tonight having cycled from Kuala Lumpur!

Yes, you heard that right, while the rest of the drivers were taking private planes around the world, VB got his bike on Sunday night and headed South

Yes, he’s certifiably crazy! He’s also doing a lot of the journey on unmade roads, having qualified himself for an offroad world championship race, that he’ll be doing with his girlfriend who’s a pro cyclist.

Very unlucky for George, Mercedes were hoping to wait until Austin or even Mexico to introduce a new engine, by which time they may have the new and improved version available, but their hand has been forced by the failure last weekend and he’ll now have to start from the back on Sunday.

He might be a good shout for the Sprint though, taking a new PU but with no penalty.
