Kamikaze Flies versus Windscreens?

75 miles of Beds/Ox B-road driving and my windscreen is peppered with a bloody mess.

How come so many flies/flying insects end up splatting on your windscreen? Why are they not dragged over the car? Or are these the unlucky bastids that get sucked under the flow?

I remember driving a Pug 407 and it didn't have this effect, could see everything being sucked over the car. I would guess depends how aerodynamically efficient your car is?

the majority goes over but some has to impact the screen, there's no magic vacuum. The insects are higher in density than the air and harder to move away, splat.
