I am an ADI (luckily I don't have to fight for work at cut prices), but sadly I can't help you by recommending somebody in your area.

I'm with you, I value the quality of the instruction much higher than the actual cost, unfortunately as I am paying for someone else' lesson's, I HAVE to factor in the cost as otherwise it becomes untenable.
All I was hoping for was maybe a PH'er had used one recently they would recommend, or knew an ADI like yourself nearby.

How much fuel will you burn in an hour? A gallon? Two? That's a tenner alone. What's the DI going to live on? Air?

Er I don't think many driving lessons involve driving 100 miles.... OP - No idea who to recommend, but for pricing I'd say these days your looking at about £25ph give or take a a couple of quid for a good independent instructor.

Eh? I imagine any motor would be hard pressed to do much better than around 30-35 mpg around town with a learner at the wheel. It's got to get through at least a gallon per hour, I would have thought. Even at half a gallon an hour and £10 a lesson that's not much more than a minimum wage, and that's before all the other running costs.
