Saab 9-3 Convertible 2.0T SE 2002 Any good?

Just wondering if anyone has owned/driven one of these?
Are they any good? Been offered one in place of my S80, never really considered one.

Do your research on the potential bulkhead cracking issues and engine sludging issues. Better if it's had the PCV kit fitted, not sure if by 2002 they were being fitted as standard from the factory. Listen out for the dreaded turbo death-whine, make sure all the oil changes were done on time. Don't expect sharp turn-in and peerless body control, especially in rag-top guise.

Then work out if it's a good deal for your motor.

Yes, if its ok, it will still be a bit of a pudding, but they do get under your skin, engines are great, handling isnt.

watch last weeks wheeler dealers as thats the exact car they bought, might give you some info especially about the bulkhead issue.

It has had a new turbo fitted and also the main breather hose that goes from the rocker to the sump has been replaced.

He's only had it 3 months, did the kids just appear in his house one day? I call bs on it being in good order.

We had the low pressure turbo variant for 6 years without fault. Great car but not the most dynamic.
If I got a soft top I would invest in a wind deflector.
