Another What Car

Seeing if anyone can come up with some alternatives...

£8k max
30k miles a year (will have to last at least 3 year with relatively trouble free motoring)
Diesel due to mileage
50mpg ideally (currently drive my 110 mile daily commute at 60mph to save filling up more than once a week so a fairly economical driver)
Able to tow 750kg un-broken weight

So far I've mainly been 'autotrading' the BMW 3 series and merc C220 CDI

Currently have a BMW 118d on a PCP deal but could do with reducing my monthly out-goings

Any modern diesel should be able to achieve 50mpg at 60mph.

Mondeo would do the job well enough. Current shape 318d and 320d are obtainable in that budget.
I'm not sure on the towing limits, although 750kg unbraked sounds like quite a lot to me.

You're right..just realised the 1'er is 690kg un-broken. Basically the bike trailer is around 500kg, add to this a motor bike, can's of fuel and tools etc. it soon mounts up to 700kg plus region of weight.
