It would help to let us know what car/engine it is?

Otherwise, it is a pretty simple task once the oil is drained. Don't forget you need a new sump gasket too. Torque setting will be in your vehicles Haynes or Bentley manual, if not then search online.

Good luck!

if i remember rightly you need ribe bits for the removal of the sump. i recently got a mate of mine to do it, and without the tools it would have been near impossible. not too sure on the sizes, but i know that alfaworkshop in royston sell tools on their website, so might be worth a look to check for sizes. also, the oil pickup can be a right PITA and if it isn't loosened off before trying to pull the sump off you run the risk of snapping it frown it might be worth trying to have a look on alfa145.com as i believe they have a how to guide on there, along with a load of other useful stuff, like the workshop manuals.... wink

hope it helps mate.

They are all M7 and M8 Ribe bits, but you need some 150mm long ones for a couple of the trickier bolts. You also need to loosen the oil pickup tube once the sump is loose, before the whole lot will come away.
