I'm selling my car and have given the dvla office my v5 and will take 7 working days to arrive but the the buyer of my car is desperate for the car so I said I will write up a contract and send him the v5
Car is worth 7400 ( price we agreed on )
He suggests He gives me 4k for car and the rest when v5 is given to him,

This sounds dodgy as v5 isn't proof of ownership
So what should I do ?

the very fact you are asking the question means you know what <not> to do.

If he's desperate he can pay.

The money is for the ownership of the car, not the V5.

No he pays you now and trusts you'll send him the V5. No questions about it.
