I know I was asking about a Disco yesterday bit these are also on the radar as a slightly more road oriented option.

Any good? Engines to avoid? Enough room for twins, double buggy and all other necessary paraphernalia?

Enough room yes, but not a pleasant ride, or a pleasant place to sit.

High spec ones look ok though, the Sport-X has some toys etc.

Personally I like 4x4's to be 4x4's. If I wanted a car like ride I'd buy one, a Legacy if I needed AWD.

I'd take the Disco everytime over the Nissan.

Interesting, the diesel models aside, they seem to get good owner reviews on Autotrader / Parkers.

Ok, Disco for 4x4, Volvo V70 T5 for normal car!

some friends of mine have one, not sure which variant but they do about 7 or 8 trips a year from UK - Italy and vice versa and love it.
