Winter tyres all year round?

I've driven a car with a spiked tyre on a dry road.
After about 20 miles on a motorway it exploded at high speed, with a massive bang and a force that took a good chunk of the wheel arch with it.
I wouldn't recommend it.
You're not supposed to exceed 90kph on a studded tyre on a dry road. Which may explain what happened. After about 20 miles on a motorway it exploded at high speed, with a massive bang and a force that took a good chunk of the wheel arch with it.
I wouldn't recommend it.

I run winter tyres all year round as i have yet to get stuck because of too much sun
Though that's largely because you live within the arctic circle!
I once turned a set of full winters on a Chrysler Voyager we were using in Austria into jelly by running them at 100mph in 30 degrees C along the A8 in the South of France seven up for two hours. You could move the tread blocks around by hand!

I use winter tyres all summer and summer tyres all winter (Very very cheap makes of course) in the vain hope some sad cooont on here will spot me at some traffic lights and make me famouse with a pic and a rant.
No-one has yet despite my continuas oppo locking and nun killing/bus stop plow throughs, so unfair, some peeps just buy what they can afford and get a thread on here why not ME!!!!

Winter tyres above 7 degs are lethal.
I wouldn't go that far - unless you got some of the questionable chinese import tyres that are so popular in the UK.For those that enjoy driving hard, cold weather tyres certainly start to diminish once you're in double figures. I changed mine over in early February as I noticed they were struggling under braking.
Having said that, if you're happy to just tootle about, you can leave them on all year round.

I presume we need both winter and summer tyres legislation.
