On my E36 M3 the sump was cracked and it has been a nightmare to get another one, but finally sorted one.

Went to take it to the garage to have that fitted on Tuesday AM and the battery was dead-most unusual. Charged it up and took it in.

Got a call Tuesday to say all that was done, but the battery was flat. So they charged it up during the day and said they would look at where the drain was. However, when they put the fully charged battery in, the ignition turned on OK, but other than that-nothing Not even a click from the starter-but plenty of charge.

SO, he said that today he would investigate and just got back to me. He by passed everything and powered the starter-no problem with that, and the fuel pump was priming-but no spark. So he thinks its to do with the Clifford immobilser and calls a trusted auto electrician to ask advice. He says that it could be the BMW imobiliser or the Clifford one-he says there is an ECU under the dash somewhere for the BMW one and that might be fooked. However, my man dosent think its the BMW and he reckons its more likely to be the Clifford one.

Anyway, he is going to ask the electrician to come out tomorrow and take a look-I have told him that I will be happy if the just remove the whole damn alarm.

Anyone know anything about this stuff?

Other thing is, could the key have lost its "link" with the car? its a 1996 if that helps.

Yours,
