Had this salvage BMW come in today that had been smashed into a tree eek

Tempt it off with a piece of stale bread?

What are you trying to salvage exactly? Drilling the head off the wheelbolts is a start. That should leave you enough thread to undo the bolts from the hub once the brake disc is off.

Oh we're not actually trying to salvage anything from it, more thinking of putting it on a plinth as a testament to ditchfinder tyres wobble

or treefinder..

In that case, how about drilling a few holes in some bar and attaching it to the strut top mount bolts so it'll stand upside down?

Need to look at the "Vague" steering too, might be an issue!

Oh, also your wheel might be out of balance!!

It also occurs to me that a smallish space saver rim might make quite a good stand - if you're lucky with the PCD you might not have to do much drilling.

(In fact, if you've got a MIG handy and an assistant to hold the thing steady you could probably get away with none!)
