First of all a quick story on why I'm bringing this up.
Just driving to work and I was following a woman in a Clio (not stalking she just happened to be going in the same direction). We approached the lights which were on green and they started to turn orange as they do and we could of both made it across before they went red. Easy.
She was about 5ft away and slammed her brakes right on, and I completely locked up trying to stop. AND when I papped my horn in rage she looked shocked that I was pcensoredd off!
I must of been inches from smashing her back in (hehe). If I wasn't paying attention we would of crashed for sure.

SO who here goes over on amber and who here slams their brakes on causing people to lock up?

i sympathise but...think it counts as following too close - arent you supposed to be able to have enough distance for an emergency stop?

Amber = STOP

You were driving too close.

I was about a car length if not just under. Just my car has non-servo brakes. But she still shouldn't do that IMO, dangerous.

She shouldn't do what? Stop when the traffic light says to?

She may have had a reason to run the amber light as it could have been dangerous to stop with you behind. You did not.

No, you do stop. Not saying that.
But when you have to slam your brakes on really hard, it's not stopping safely so you should continue. That is my point.

Agree with others, you were driving too close and should have left a larger gap.

Not quite.

You MUST stop behind the white ‘Stop’ line across your side of the road unless the light is green. If the amber light appears you may go on only if you have already crossed the stop line or are so close to it that to stop might cause a collision.
The OP probably should have stopped as he had at least two car lengths to do so.

I see this now.

But I was under the impression if you can't stop safely you continue through amber...
Was hardly stopping safely. My point isn't anything else other than that.

What's dangerous is you driving so close you're almost unable to stop. She did absolutely nothing wrong.

Where do you think an insurance company would portion the blame?

From what I can see then everyone on PH are law abiding drivers. Do you all stop then even if you can get across?
I doubt it wink
And I really doubt you'd slam your brakes on to do so.

She was stopping safely though. If there had been a crash it would have been your fault for not leaving a big enough gap.

Anyway, aren't amber gamlers the ones that jump the lights?

No.

So, do you have any proof he was too close to her?

No.

How's the weather up there on your horse?

+1 You're driving close, in a car that you say has poor brakes, approaching a hazzard.
