Missus, not really all that bothered about cars but has an MPV and a 60s Fiat 500.
Dad, MG Zt's * 2 plus Fireblade, definitely a petrolhead.
Mum, not interested as long as goes and has capacious ashtray, hankering for Puma solved with Diesel ZT auto by dad

Brother, interested but too busy with kids and houses
Uncles both own Jowett Jupiters each and an old Wolesley between them, Selection of MG type stuff, BRM, ZT V8 and one into bikes.
Brother in laws * 3, motley assortment of diesel stuff, with a hint of Frogeye and Bike Lust, previous Etype and Healey ownership, varied mechanical aptitude between none, less than none and very capable.
Father in law, illustrious previous ownership (including Jaaaags, Jensens, Bugattis etc) doesn't match with lack of interest now
Mother in law, doesnt care if it goes and isnt too flash or too
, slight requirement for adequate grunt after 116 Auto BMW 2 se3ies.Mates, very poor nowadays, diesel tat, Picassos, glimmer of hope with Octavia VRS, plus a "Raging Bull" pick up thing...
Dad: Audi A4 Avant (diesel of course) and a Lotus Elan +2
Mam: Audi TT 225 (she rarely uses it and certainly doesn't need a car like this! She liked the red leather that's all)
Brother: Mazda 3
Sis in Law: Suzuki Alto
Friends: Bland BMW's, a Skoda Felicia, Pug 106 Rallye, Nissan Micra
all boring as f
k. Even my Dad to some extent although he has redeemed himself somewhat by buying the Elan.

Mum - loves cars and got me into them from a very early age, she's not got anything to note now due to personal issues but we always talk about cars together
Dad - doesn't really care
Grandma - doesn't even drive!!
I don't have any other family!
Friends - mixed bag depending on where I know them from.

Dad - currently a mk1 BMW Mini Cooper S but I grew up with:
New Lancia Beta turbo (rusty on delivery, on 3rd engine after 18 months!!)
New E20 323i with LSD and loads of extras.
3 x uR Quattros, the last one a Treser.
Ferrari 308 GT4 (the pretend one but still nippy)
928S
2 x 924 Turbo
The 7th mk1 Gti in the UK
One of the last mk1 GTis (1.8) tuned to the absolute max.
Ford P100 pickup (Cortina shape) with 400bhp V8
BBS Mitsi Shogun (original shape) - not far off 300bhp
And many many others.
Father in law:
Many S and RS Audis
A load of fast Saabs
New 355
New Scooby WRX wagon (wife learned to drive in it aged 17!)
And many many others.
Probably why I'm into cars...

Dad: Used to be into his cars, had a Porsche and some other really nice cars, these days he has gone sensible and drives a Discovery 3 as we live in the country side and he needs to tow the horse box.
Dad's partner: Doesn't care, drives a new 1.2 Polo.
Mum: Likes a nice car but not really into her cars. Currently drives a Discovery 3 and a Swift. The Swift was the first non 4x4 she has bought in the last 20 years; previously owned a series of Discoverys and Range Rovers.
Mum's partner: Likes his cars as aslong as it goes offroad, drives a td5 defender.
Sister: Quite likes cars, although doesn't know much about them, passed her test about 6 months ago. The factors important to her in her first car was 'for it to be pretty and have one of those cool racing stripes.' I found her a nice little 1.3 Swift with a racing stripe, which she loves.
Friends: Quite into their cars for students; various Mercs, Audis, Golf GTIs, BMWs, Minis, Volvos, Landrovers.

Mate - Porsche 911 Turbo
My Dad's the petrolhead, does all his own servicing and can pretty much take the oily bits to pieces and put them back together again.
My mate probably doesn't know which end of his 911 the engine is in, gave me a loan of it and there was about 15-20PSI in each of the tyres as he does nothing but fuel it and drive it around a city centre.
Petrolhead isn't just about what you drive IMO.

This is great, I am looking to write a book and this is one of my ideas, cars, motoring, biking and families, I think I can make a nice job of it, keep it coming, I see a PH book that isn't just roadtests, there is a mass of motoring nostalgia to be mined and to be recorded for posterity, the PH brand and my way with words, could be a winner, just waiting for the call......
Dad; '10 Impreza WRXS - He has always been car & bike mad (explains a lot my mum says
), previous steeds include a FIAT Miafiore, Ford Capri Mk.2 1600 GT (I *think* that's what it was, bright green/yellow anyhow)... I popped out in 1986 and since then he'd had sensible ''family'' cars. Until I started driving in 2006 and came home with a Pug' 106 Rallye. This flared up his Pistonitis again and he wanted an R1. Mum said ''NO!''. He wanted an Impreza instead. Mum said ''I want a holiday''. Mum got her holiday and dad came home with a '95 Impreza Turbo 2000. Three months later, he took it in for a service and came out home with an '07 Impreza WRX. Twelve months later he took that in for a service and came home with his new one. He's not allowed to go to that garage anymore...
Mum; '10 FIAT Punto Grande - Mums always been ''a car gets you from A to B'' kind of person and has only been driving about 10-12 years. But then 3 years ago I gave her a '99 Puma 1.7, which she loved because she could ''get out of junctions quickly''... Three points and two years later, the Puma became and unfortunate victim of The Scrappage Scheme as mum went back to her love for FIAT's (had a '01 Punto 1.2 previous to the Puma) after the Puma had started to ''cost her money''...
Sister; She turns 16 in November this year. Has already been around Oulton Park in a JP1 as a passenger and driven the track in a BMW 1 Series. Her ''saving for if/when she goes to Uni.'' have now been turned into her ''Twingo 133 Fund''. Quite possibly the next Danica Patrick, 5'1'' of pure Petrolhead, very quick in a kart.
The Missus; 28, doesn't drive, likes Top Gear, thinks Fifth Gear is ''too hardcore'', gets travel sick above 25MPH, makes funny squealing noises if we corner too quickly but is determined to come out as a passenger on the next trackday. I have a horrible feeling that that will be the spark that sets her off and she'll end up doing her lessons soon after.
The ManCub; 6 Months, we called him Lewis Jenson, head snaps round like an Owl when he hears a car on the TV. Used to kick the sh!t out of' his mother when he was still ''on the inside'' whenever he heard a car go past or on the TV. My first & last born, I fear he's going to be an expensive one...
Mates; M3, CTR, Focus RS, Focus ST, '85 911, Celica 180, not a bad bunch really apart from the one who sold a V8V last year...

Let me paint a mental picture of my Mum, retired florist, 69 this year. Six grandkids, caravan behind diesel Octavia usually dragged to Anglesey...
I'm sure you know the type...
...Post Chief Marshal, only on Anglesey because of the circuit, house full of pics of her passenger laps in racecars from GT F360 to Radicals, has a MK1 MX5 that she drives back the long way, via the Evo triangle, highlight of her year is Silverstone for the GP, combined this year with WTCC at donington.
I love my mum

Yep, another of the "you must own a penis to like cars" type

It really bloody annoys me to the point that for a while I couldn't bare to ever hand the keys over to him no matter how tired I was because of idiot men talking to me like I was thick because I'm a girl without even trying to talk / listen to what I had to say!
It got to the point it was coming between us because I felt so angry about all this as he loves cars as well so now we either race each other round the B-roads or we have mutally agreed to each do about 50% driving if we are in one car.
Don't really care now - if thats you're attitude - I don't want to talk to you!
My three boys have not "come out" as Petrolheads yet, the like cars and driving game but dont show a lot of interest in the Fiat or any other car project, they have my grandads old Metro for driving in the in laws field and enjoy that, I personally didn tget the total bug until perhaps 16, when I put things in context, the middle one doesn't seem bothered and has Emo tendencies but I picked him up last Friday night at 11:40 and he told me to go for it, give it full death, I was so proud I even managed to scare him a bit with a marginal braking situation (fully in control but he didn't know that)

dad - is a mechanic & MOT tester, knows a wealth of knowledge about how to fix cars.
mum - knows nothing about cars. thinks anything that requires a repair is a 'bad' car
brother- knows alot about pedal bikes, wanted to get into motorbikes but was never allowed.
friends- know sod all about cars.including the ones who known one.
rather sad really. I don't have any mates who i can talk to with it. PH is my place to vent that off.
me: oh so you're learning to drive?what car are you learning in?
friend: er, its a small ford i think.
I have a friend of mine who got given a mint mk4 fiesta with 30,000miles on it as her first car. 1 year later she got rid of it with about 45k on it. Her response was 'ohh it has too many miles on it!!'
