I'm not going to be selling right away but I'm thinking of selling two of my cars to by my current dream daily - a Series 1 Jaguar.

It would me me selling the 944 and my recently aquired P6 V8 to raise about £6000 to buy one of my dream Jags. The others are a 420 which I could get at a push and an E-type which s more of a long term thing!

Am I an idiot for considering selling two cars to buy one? I do trade in classics so I'll probably have four cars around me. I will still have the MGB GT V8.

Pros - space will be gained and this is quite important, my drive only accomodates four cars.
I'll get a car I've been lusting after for a while
Cheaper tax, insurance etc.

Cons - will have to get rid of two cars.

Anyone done this before?

I traded in a BMW and a Mazda at a Porsche Centre and drove away a used Boxster S!

It's your life and your money, if you'll be happy with (what is a lovely motor) one rather than two, then do it.

I suppose I'm just wanting everything lol a Jag, the P6 and the 944 as well as the MG's! Something has got to give at some point.

The P6 costs next to nothing to keep on the road - insurance £200, tax free, got plenty of test on it. Theres also around £1500 profit to be made from what I bought it for!

The 944 costs a lot to keep on the road - insurance £500, tax £200 per year, got pleanty of test but parts are silly expensive compared to British stuff. There is again profit to be made from what I paid for it as well.

A Jag would cost me under £200 to insure, maybe tax free and parts aren't as expensive as the Porsche.

None of my cars are good on fuel and I think a Jaguar would be about the same as the P6 V8 fuel wise. Porsche is a little cheaper fuel wise BUT costs much more to run.

Highlighted the important bit for you - which is also your answer.

It's that I'm not sure about, I think I may regret it! But having 3 long term cars is becoming detrimental to one of our businesses as we can only have one "trade" car on the go at once.

Sense says sell the P6 and 944 and buy a Jag. smile

I also feel I've done the Porsche thing to death now - had six of them!

I think you're saying go for it biggrin

I think I'm just worried about regretting it 3-4 months down the line and not being able to get a nice Porsche again, which is madness really ... as I'm starting to get fed up with them and am really enjoying my big barge for the week - use the MGB GT V8 must weekends and the Porsche is getting left out now.

Yup. You only live once. On top of that, it's not like you don't have another toy to play with.

It's far better to regret what you do than what you don't. And it's not like you'll never be able to get another porker.

Any way you could fund all three temporarily? Then you can decide which you want to keep long term? Bit risky financially, but being classics they should have a steady demand when you decide to sell.

By the way, you've also reminded me what a gorgeous car the P6 is smile

Thank you smile The P6 is lovely, it's just really got me craving a Jag again though! Will be keeping the P6 for a couple of months I imagine - theres about £1500 profit to be made in the car!

Not really we really need the space frown Certainly think I'll put the 944 up for sale, if I want another I can find a nice one for my budget not too difficultly. smile
