Saw this yesterday as I would love an old Maestro Turbo. Quite a few seem to be sheds like that.

2:1? smile to be fair though i've seen these with a genuine 400bhp so 200 should easily be possible

Am I missing something, the mods maybe a bit suspect, but hasn't he restored that car?

I see a usual PH "Mindset" has already crawled out ... no surprises there ... rolleyes

Let them who have driven one let alone owned one casteth the first stone....

... wink

The O-Series Turbocharged engine was sufficiently engineered to be inexpensively tuned to produce anything up to double the manufacturer's stated 153 BHP. Thus 200 bhp easily achieved.

Bog standard quite nippy even by today's fat-gut means of getting about standards currently available.

Breaks per hour - it's a measure of how often it breaks down.

Poor old thing, it would have been so easy to pull well in excess of 200BHP out of the engine without any of the stupid nonsense attached to the poor car.

Looks like he's picked up the demon tweeks mag and ordered one of everything, foul truly foul.

A standard looking one of these is a nice period hot hatch and surprisingly rapid too.

all true enough, but that does not mean they were any more than a polished turd (and yes, I had one from new many moons ago....)

looking at the pics linked to from Ebay, the shell is hardly pristine, and even if the engine was a perfect example, it's still not worth tuppence.

Folks had one of these new. My dad loved it and said it was great fun, but he worked away for months, so whenever he got back my mum - who hated it - had spent most of her time breaking down and having it fixed again. To her it was the worst car they'd ever had, and a complete unreliable POS, to my dad it only went wrong once and was good fun hehe

We were lent one for a day when they were new.
Entertaining to drive for a day, but rubbish build quality.
We bought a Peugeot 405 instead- that was a good car

I owned one at some point in the 90s.

Was attempting a "spirited drive" of the A537 during the early hours of one morning. The sleet and rain were coming down and the windscreen wipers really weren't coping very well.

Next I know, the drivers side wiper flew off into a hedgerow and the wiper arm hit the windscreen with enough force to crack the windscreen. Cue driving home through the wind and rain with no wipers, since curiously the rear wiper didn't fit the front.

There was much cursing of Austin Rover that night, I can tell you.
